As I painted this piece I began to notice that many of the colors in one of the first layers of paint reminded me of an abstract constellation of sorts. As I added  additional layers including a  white top coat the piece really felt like a vast nighttime sky with colored lights popping in and out of view and that’s when I decided to name it “Northern Lights”.
